Jesus Questions - Week Two

When have you successfully looked calm, interested or happy on the outside while feeling something very different inside?

Read Luke 5:17–26 Everyone saw the same room, but Jesus saw resistance in the Pharisees, faith in the friends, and the deeper need of the paralyzed man. What might Jesus see in your heart that others cannot?

Read 1 Samuel 16:7 We tend to judge ourselves by our intentions and other people by their outward appearances and actions. When have you misjudged what was happening in someone’s heart or allowed others to have a false impression of yours? When has someone misjudged you?

Read Matthew 6:1–4 The same good action can come from very different motives. What good thing are you currently doing that may be driven by approval, control, recognition, fear, or resentment?

Read Psalm 139:23–24 What makes it difficult to be completely honest with God and with yourself about what is happening in your heart? (Honesty first...)

Read Ezekiel 36:26–27 Jesus reveals our hearts because He wants to change them, not merely condemn us. What has He been stirring or exposing in your heart, and how will you respond this week? (...then change)
