Dusty - Week One

1. Turn to Luke 22:55-62 and read Peter's denial of Jesus. Pastor Michael described Peter's bitter weeping as a "crisis of identity." How have you experienced moments where you've forgotten who you are in Christ during times of failure or fear?

2. Let's look at Proverbs 23:7 together: "As a man thinks within himself, so he is." The sermon emphasized that "You do what you do because of what you think about you." Share a time when your view of yourself affected your actions, either positively or negatively.

3. Would someone read John 21:3-6 aloud? Notice how Jesus recreated Peter's first calling experience. How has Jesus "shown up" in your life to remind you of your identity when you've gone back to old patterns or doubted your calling?

4. Open your Bibles to Romans 8:16: "The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children." Pastor Michael mentioned that we need continual reminding of our identity. What practices help you listen to the Spirit's testimony about who you are?

5. In the sermon, we heard the concept that Christian life is "no longer about what I'm living for as much as it is what I'm living from." How would your daily decisions change if you consistently lived from your identity as God's child rather than striving to earn that identity?

6. As we wrap up, read 1 Peter 2:9-10 together. Interestingly, Peter himself later wrote these words about our identity in Christ. Which phrase in this passage speaks most powerfully to you about who you are in Christ? Why does that particular identity matter in your current season of life?
