Dusty - Week Two

On Sunday, Pastor Jayson said that Thomas's story shows us that doubt doesn't have to keep us from following Jesus. Having questions about our faith doesn't mean we're not committed—in fact, honest questions can lead to deeper conviction. Like Thomas, we can be both questioning and devoted, allowing our doubts to launch us forward rather than hold us back.

1. Turn to John 20:24-29 and read about Thomas's encounter with the risen Jesus. Pastor Jayson described doubt as something that "doesn't have to keep us out." When has doubt actually strengthened your faith? How did Jesus' response to Thomas teach you about handling questions?

2. Let's look at John 11:14-16 together where Thomas says, "Let's go, too—and die with Jesus." How can someone be both questioning and deeply committed? Share an example from your life when you remained faithful despite uncertainty.

3. Would someone read John 14:1-6 aloud? Notice how Thomas admitted he didn't understand where Jesus was going. What keeps you from asking honest questions about your faith? How has God responded when you've voiced your confusion?

4. Open your Bibles to 1 Corinthians 15:3-5. Pastor Jayson emphasized the importance of "keeping the main things the main thing." What core beliefs do you hold onto when other aspects of faith seem confusing or challenging?

5. In the sermon, we heard that "doubt doesn't mean you're done" and how Thomas ultimately traveled furthest to share the gospel. Read Hebrews 10:23-25 together. How might God use your questions to propel you into deeper mission? How does community help move us from doubt to action?

6. As we wrap up, reflect on James 1:2-4 which tells us that tests of faith produce endurance. Pastor Jayson said, "When I was finally brave enough to be honest with my questions is when my faith started exploding." Share a time when wrestling honestly with a doubt led to growth rather than weakening your faith.
