School of Hard Knocks-Week Eleven

Q1 – Let’s start by being honest:
Have you ever had a season where you said, *“Life didn’t work out the way I dreamed or imagined”?* What was your “Land Between” moment, and what made it feel so disorienting?

Q2 – Read 1 Thessalonians 5:16–18
Pastor Hunter said that rejoicing always is not shallow optimism or the absence of pain. What does it look like to “rejoice always” when you're in the middle of pain? What does joy "not" mean?

Q3 – Read Exodus 1:13-14 & 16:3 The Israelites complain about the lack of food in the wilderness and long for the "flesh pots" of Egypt, claiming they "ate bread to the full." But in Exodus 1, we see the reality of their suffering in slavery. Why do you tend to romanticize the past—even when it was painful?
How have you caught yourself idealizing a previous season of life that, in truth, wasn't actually good for your soul?

Q4 – Read Philippians 4:4–7
Pastor Hunter shared how prayer helped him shift the weight of his pain. How does prayer do that? When have you experienced peace through prayer even if your situation didn’t change?

Q5 – Pastor Hunter said, “God is more concerned with who you’re becoming than where you’re going.”**
What does that mean practically for someone going through grief, uncertainty, or waiting? What might God be shaping in you right now?

Q6 – Read Isaiah 43:18–19
God says He’s *doing a new thing*—even in the desert. How can we train ourselves to see and trust what God is doing *in* the Land Between before we reach what’s next?
