“At Just the Right Time: The Return of Jesus”

Small Groups at Lakeland exist to make disciples who make disciples in relational environments as we live out the four habits – accountability, shepherding, developing others, and on mission.

ICEBREAKER (optional): What fictional family would you like to be a part of? (literature, TV, etc.)

DISCUSSION STARTER (optional): Let’s start by asking if anyone has a specific takeaway from this weekend’s message that they’d like to share.

  1. SHEPHERDING: How long would you wait at a restaurant before complaining or leaving? How about a doctor’s office?  How about waiting to pick up a friend at an airport?  (Leader’s Note: Did your group have different answers?  Press into why that is.)
  2. DEVELOPING OTHERS: The Bible talks about “watching” for Christ’s return (Mark 13:35). What do you think it means to be “watchful”?  What all is involved in watching?
  3. ACCOUNTABILITY: Let’s read Matthew 24:3-14. (After reading)  According to Jesus, what is happening politically prior to His returns?  In the natural world?  What is happening spiritually?  In all of this, what is required of a disciple of Jesus?
  4. Why do you think the exact day and time of Christ’s return is unknown? What would change if we knew when Jesus will return?
