Day One Recap (by Josh Phillips)

While my kids slept Friday night, we were flying to Washington D.C.  Before they woke up Saturday morning, we were flying over New England.  Thirteen hours later, when they were getting ready for bed, we landed in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.  You might think we were ready to sleep, but we were instead getting ready for customs!   In the 48 hours from Friday morning to our first nap, we averaged 2 hours of sleep.  The Lord is Good, and we all woke up the next morning well rested and healthy, and all of our baggage made it!  The missionaries will be so happy with all the gifts our friends sent us to given them!   Addis Ababa… wow.  A city carved from a mountain of poverty, its makeshift huts spread up from the roads into the mountains surrounding the town.  In the middle of this noisy, smelly, rauckus chaos we found the SIM house, a missions house, and we knew, at long last, we could rest.  Thank you all for your prayers that brought us safely to this place, this far away place, that is now so near.
